Bologna, I Hardly Knew Ye

Bologna, I Hardly Knew Ye

Out of the many wonderful places we’ve visited, Bologna may have been my favorite. Though we were not there long the atmosphere of the city had me wishing that there were another day or two allotted to staying there. The hotel accommodations were nice, perhaps even the nicest of the trip, excluding the apartments in Florence. As I’ve said before the city’s atmosphere was also quite different from the others, more liberal and laid back. Bologna also had a perfect blending of modernity and history in my opinion, feeling storied, but also cosmopolitan.

Of course I would be remiss by not speaking on Bologna’s food. After all it is nicknamed Fat City for a reason. The famous Bolognese sauce did not fail to impress as I had it with both tortellini and tagliatelle on separate nights as my first course. Moving into the second course i had more “American dishes,” like meatballs wrapped in bacon and fried chicken, perhaps in part due to my missing the states. Nonetheless they had there own Italian flair and were wonderful.

Bologna may have been my favorite city on the trip. It was a wonderful city to see, and one that felt like I had been there before. Also, the food was incredible, and I only wish I had room, and extra time for more.
